Petanque

Pétanque at the Coffee Barn

In the early days of the Coffee Barn, we decided we wanted a pétanque piste! Why? Pétanque is something anyone can play and enjoy. Age is irrelevant, skill and experience is not important. Since then pétanque is being enjoyed by more and more visitors to the Barn. Whether you’ve played before or have never heard of the sport, you’re more than welcome to throw a boule with us!

As well as the piste (the gravelly area that pétanque is played on) we also have boules, suitable for adults and children, score boards, hoops, jacks and also guidance sheets on how to play. If you’ve never played before is really easy to learn and we’re happy to teach you!

Booking a Piste

You DO NOT need to book a piste to play pétanque at the Coffee Barn but, if you feel you would like to or need to, there is NO charge to do so. ,

If you’re looking to enjoy a coffee and maybe enjoy a game then simply head along and we’re sure you’ll be able to get a game.

If you’d like to make a booking for a piste, for whatever reason, you can do so using the booking panel on this page. If you would like to book one piste select a party size of 1. To book both pistes select a party size of 2.

Constructing the Piste’s

The construction of the petanque area began in earnest at the start of July 2026. We prefer to support local businesses and were pleased that Jack’s Groundcare, from just 2 miles down the road in Sproxton were able to undertake the initial work for us.

With advice, and guidance, from our friends at Bourne Abbots Petanque Club fine granite chippings were laid on the compacted hardcore at the start of August and we were ready to throw our first boule!
